Metalworks Sandbox Demo is a Roblox sandbox building game created by Defaultio in 2014. In Metalworks Sandbox Demo, players build creations using large metal parts and interactive items that they find scattered throughout the map. Players can pick up parts and items by clicking and dragging, and assemble complex creations by welding multiple parts and items together. Due to the game's unique building experience, it had a fairly large and focused community since its released in 2014. However, since it was created before Filtering Enabled and later retrofitted to use remotes, it's relatively easy for exploiters to take advantage of the game and ruin the experience for other players.

Due to the rampant game-breaking exploits, such as server crashers, creation deleters and plot stealers, most Metalworks Sandbox Demo players were forced to move on to other games, since it became extremely rare to be able to play and socialize in a public server. Any random player joining the game could instantly fling creations across the map, claim your build zone right out from under you, or crash the whole server, and there's no way of knowing when that could happen.

Most interaction in Metalworks Sandbox now happens in private servers. Trades and giveaways still happen occasionally between certain active members of the community, with varying levels of success. The game itself often only has 1-3 players online, and exploiters are extremely common. Grassy Landscape is an ongoing attempt to remake Metalworks Sandbox in such a way that it won't suffer from the same exploitation that the original game did.
