Picking up a part and moving it around with the mouse

Grabbing is the action of picking up Parts and Items and moving them around. Grassy Landscape allows players to pick up and move objects by clicking and dragging. The script that does this is called ObjectManipulation, just like Metalworks Sandbox Demo; the CollectionService tag that allows objects to be picked up is called Manipulable. Currently, parts and items are the only objects that have this tag.

Usage

To grab an object, walk up to it and hover over it with your mouse. There should be a grey outline, indicating that the object can be picked up. Then, click on the object and drag it. The outline should turn blue while you're dragging, and then yellow once you let go. When an object has the blue outline, it is currently following your cursor. When it has the yellow outline, it is being held still in mid-air. You can press E at any time to drop the object. Unlike in Metalworks Sandbox Demo, objects can be thrown by pressing E while the part is moving quickly.

Rotation

Rotating a part using Shift+WASDQE

Objects can be rotated while you are holding them. To rotate a part, hold down Shift and then press W, A, S, D, Q, or E. This will rotate the part around your cursor if you are dragging the part, or around the part's center if it's being held in place. Rotation is always relative to your camera's orientation.

Part Surfing

Part surfing by moving the part you're standing on

Grassy Landscape currently has no countermeasure to prevent part surfing. This means you can stand on a part that you are holding and it will support you, even though you're supposed to be the one holding it. This is because object manipulation uses body movers, which create force out of thin air rather than linking it to your character. There are plans to move the system to constraints instead, which do link it to your character; however current limitations in PGS and humanoid behavior can cause odd things to happen.

You can also pick up Armor that you are wearing, or a Seat that you are sitting in.
